GLM API
The GLM API in Europe
GLM is the model family published by Z.ai (Zhipu AI). Z.ai's own API is run by a Singapore company under Singapore law, and its privacy policy says data is generally processed in Singapore. Z.ai also publishes GLM weights on Hugging Face, so a European operator can serve them instead. On Frontière AI, GLM-5.2 (Zhipu/Z.ai) and GLM-5.3 (Zhipu/Z.ai) run on European infrastructure and are labeled EU sovereign; GLM-5.3 Flash (Zhipu/Z.ai) is served by US providers and labeled fast access, before you call it. Same OpenAI-compatible API either way, prepaid, prices VAT included.
Is GLM hosted in Europe?
Not by Z.ai: its documents say its services are provided from Singapore. The weights, though, are published, so a European company can host GLM in Europe and Z.ai never sees the request. On Frontière AI, GLM is hosted in Europe by Scaleway (France) for GLM-5.2 and AKI.IO (Germany) for GLM-5.3. Each response names the provider that served it, in the x-routed-provider header. GLM-5.3 Flash (Zhipu/Z.ai) is, by contrast, served by US providers and labeled fast access before you call it.

Why an EU provider can serve GLM
Z.ai publishes GLM weights on Hugging Face under the zai-org account. Licences differ from one version to the next, so each model page on Frontière AI states its licence and links the official model card. Once the weights are downloaded, the operator that runs them is the one that sees your prompts — not Z.ai.
Switching takes one line
If your code already uses the OpenAI SDK, only the base URL, the key and the model ID change:
from openai import OpenAI
client = OpenAI(
base_url="https://getfrontiereai.eu/api/v1",
api_key=os.environ["FRONTIERE_KEY"],
)
reply = client.chat.completions.create(
model="glm-5.2", # EU sovereign: served in Europe, labeled before you call it

)FAQ
Can I use the GLM API in Europe?
Yes, in two ways. Z.ai's own API is run from Singapore, under Singapore law. Or you call the GLM weights through a provider in Europe: on Frontière AI, GLM-5.2 (Zhipu/Z.ai) and GLM-5.3 (Zhipu/Z.ai) run on EU infrastructure and are labeled EU sovereign, through the same OpenAI-compatible API.
Which GLM models are hosted in the EU on Frontière AI?
Hosted in Europe by Scaleway (France) for GLM-5.2 and AKI.IO (Germany) for GLM-5.3, labeled EU sovereign. GLM-5.3 Flash (Zhipu/Z.ai) is served by US providers and labeled fast access — never presented as hosted in Europe.
Does Z.ai keep or train on API prompts?
By its own documents, no: its API Data Processing Addendum says API content is processed in real time and not saved on its servers, and its terms say API content is not used to improve its services unless you explicitly agree. The data is still processed in Singapore, outside the EU. With an EU-hosted GLM model, the request never reaches Z.ai at all.
How much does GLM cost on Frontière AI?
The cheapest on input is GLM-5.2 (Zhipu/Z.ai): €0.3024 in and €0.924 out per 100k tokens. The table on this page gives every model's price. Prices include margin and VAT, billed per token against a prepaid balance from €10 — no subscription.
Do I need to change my code to move off Z.ai's API?
Usually not. Z.ai's API and ours are both OpenAI-compatible: change the base URL to https://getfrontiereai.eu/api/v1, use a Frontière AI key, and set the model to one of our IDs, such as glm-5.2.
