About this model

Qwen3.8 Flash is Qwen's hosted model based on Qwen3.8-Flash-Next, whose open weights were published in August 2026. Its model card presents Flash-Next as an experimental preview of the architecture that will underpin Qwen4: a Mixture-of-Experts with 125 billion parameters, 6 billion activated per token, plus 51 billion parameters of n-gram embeddings, where a new Qwen Sparse Attention cuts long-context latency. It accepts text, images and video, thinks by default, and the hosted version offers a one-million-token context. According to Qwen Cloud, it targets coding assistance, agentic workflows and visual understanding; the card reports 62.5 on SWE-bench Pro. The weights use the Qwen Community License 1.0, not Apache 2.0. Compared with Qwen3.8 27B, it activates far fewer parameters per token.

What its label means

This model is served through infrastructure controlled by a US company, which remains subject to the US CLOUD Act even when it runs in an EU region. We label it “fast access”, never sovereign, and it is flagged in the API response before you call it — so the choice is yours, made with full information.

FAQ

Is Qwen3.8 Flash (Qwen) GDPR-compliant on Frontière AI?

This model is labeled “fast access”, not sovereign: it is served through OpenRouter, controlled by a US company and therefore subject to the CLOUD Act even in an EU region. For regulated workloads, pick a model from the sovereign tier. In either case, Frontière AI stores neither the prompts nor the completions from API calls.

How much does Qwen3.8 Flash (Qwen) cost?

€0.0252 per 100,000 input tokens and €0.0773 per 100,000 output tokens — margin and VAT included, that is the amount debited from your prepaid balance. No subscription: you top up from €10; calls are refused once the balance reaches zero, and a call already running can take it slightly below — deducted from your next top-up.

How do I call Qwen3.8 Flash (Qwen) from my code?

The API is OpenAI-compatible: point base_url at https://getfrontiereai.eu/api/v1, swap the key, and pass “qwen3.8-flash” as the model field. Your SDK, scripts and tools keep working, streaming included.

Under which licence is Qwen3.8 Flash (Qwen) released?

Qwen Community License 1.0 — this is not a permissive Apache- or MIT-style licence. Worth flagging if you run a legal review of licences before deployment.
