About this model
Gemma 3 27B (gemma-3-27b-it) is the instruction-tuned 27-billion-parameter model of Google's Gemma 3 family, released in March 2025 and authored by Google DeepMind. Its model card describes Gemma as built from the same research and technology used to create the Gemini models. It takes text and images and generates text, with a 128K-token input context and up to 8,192 output tokens. The card cites support for over 140 languages, and Google's launch post says Gemma 3 supports function calling and structured output. It suits multilingual question answering, summarisation and image understanding. The weights are distributed under Google's Gemma Terms of Use, not Apache 2.0. Mistral Small 3.2 24B, of similar size, also reads images and is Apache 2.0.

What its label means
This model is served through infrastructure controlled by a US company, which remains subject to the US CLOUD Act even when it runs in an EU region. We label it “fast access”, never sovereign, and it is flagged in the API response before you call it — so the choice is yours, made with full information.

This model is labeled “fast access”, not sovereign: it is served through OpenRouter, controlled by a US company and therefore subject to the CLOUD Act even in an EU region. No subscription: you top up from €10; calls are refused once the balance reaches zero, and a call already running can take it slightly below — deducted from your next top-up.
How do I call Gemma 3 27B (Google) from my code?
