Cline on EU-hosted open models

Use Cline's OpenAI Compatible provider with Frontière AI's base URL to run the VS Code agent and its CLI on EU-hosted open models. Cline settings → API Provider: OpenAI Compatible → Base URL, API Key, Model ID; or cline auth on the command line.

Setup

1.In VS Code

Open the Cline panel, then the gear icon. Choose OpenAI Compatible as API Provider, paste the base URL and your key, type the model id (glm-5.2). Under Model Configuration, enter the context window and maximum output, and leave Image Support off unless the model reads images.

2.From the CLI

Which model to pick

24 live models have tool calling measured by a real call through the gateway. Models labeled EU sovereign run at European providers; fast-access models are served through US-controlled infrastructure. Prices are per 100,000 tokens, margin and VAT included.

Good to know

Cline sends tool definitions with every request: choose a model with measured tool calling.
Cline cannot infer limits for a custom model id: fill in the context window and maximum output yourself.
Use OpenAI Compatible, not the Anthropic provider: the latter only offers Claude models in its list.

Where your prompts go

Cline's privacy notice says that with your own API key you deal directly with that provider and Cline does not collect it. Only Cline's own hosted models go through Cline.

On our side, a model labeled EU sovereign runs at a European provider, and the gateway itself runs in Paris on Vercel, a US company — our privacy page says so. Billing keeps the model, the token counts and the amount, never the prompt or the reply.
