Setup
1.Create the provider file
In the file form, base_url carries the full chat-completions path. Declare a context limit per model; without it goose assumes 128,000 tokens. The key is read from the variable named in api_key_env.
// ~/.config/goose/custom_providers/frontiere.json
{
"name": "frontiere",
"engine": "openai",
"display_name": "Frontière AI",
"api_key_env": "FRONTIERE_API_KEY",
"base_url": "https://getfrontiereai.eu/api/v1/chat/completions",
"models": [
{ "name": "glm-5.2", "context_limit": 256000 },
{ "name": "qwen3.6-35b", "context_limit": 262144 }
],
"supports_streaming": true,
"requires_auth": true
}2.Start a session
Export the key, then start goose on the provider. GOOSE_MODEL picks the model without the menu.
export FRONTIERE_API_KEY=sk-front-...
GOOSE_MODEL=glm-5.2 goose session --provider frontiereWhich model to pick
24 live models have tool calling measured by a real call through the gateway. Models labeled EU sovereign run at European providers; fast-access models are served through US-controlled infrastructure. Prices are per 100,000 tokens, margin and VAT included.

Good to know
- goose relies on tool calling: a model without it can only chat, with every extension disabled.
- With the built-in OpenAI provider instead, the host and the path are separate: OPENAI_HOST=https://getfrontiereai.eu and OPENAI_BASE_PATH=api/v1/chat/completions, or requests answer 404.
- API keys written in config.yaml are ignored; goose reads them from the keyring or the variable.
Where your prompts go
goose runs locally and calls the configured URL; its anonymous usage data collection is off by default.
On our side, a model labeled EU sovereign runs at a European provider, and the gateway itself runs in Paris on Vercel, a US company — our privacy page says so. Billing keeps the model, the token counts and the amount, never the prompt or the reply.
